Common Design Omissions
Please review all of our prepress section
to avoid these common design issues.
Type fonts are missing
We need to have all included and be able to activate the
type font(s) used in the label design.
Images used in the layout
are missing
Images in the label design must be provided and linked to
files. No embedded images please.
Images used are sometimes
of poor quality
Poor quality images are usually because of low resolution,
missing detail, distortions within the artwork, or poor
scanning. Images should be at least 300 dpi.
Size Issues
Submitted artwork should be exactly proportionate to the
actual dimensions of the die shape chosen.
Elements within the label
design are too small to print
Check out the Digital Art Guidelines section of our website to
ensure that what you submit is printable.
Colors used in the layout
are incorrect, or are simply not identified
Do not design labels using RGB colors and make sure that
all colors used are identified properly.
Styles and some special
effects may not be printable
Designers often alter type fonts by stylizing within the
software application, rather than choosing another font.
These stylizations may not reproduce as intended when the
file is sent through the RIP. Certain transparencies also
do not reproduce as intended.
Files must be provided
with usable layers
Artwork should be layered appropriately
(if unfamiliar with layering, check with Labels, Inc.'s Prepress
Department).
Files must be provided
in a usable format
Labels, Inc. uses all of the formats that are industry
standards (designers can confirm that they are in compliance
by checking the Supported
Software section of our website).
